Business Card Design with a Wow Factor
Quirky business card design
The old saying goes that you only get one chance at a first impression. Whether you’re attending a conference, networking event or convention you’ll want to make sure that your business card gives the right one. Even more importantly, you should try to create a business card design that stands out from the crowd. How many business cards did you have the last time you came back from a conference 50? 100? More? Think back to how you decided which ones were worth keeping and which were not. The odds are that the white rectangles of card were the first to go. You need to stand out from the crowd to get a second glance.
Luckily there are plenty of ways to do just that. In this blog post we’ve got three fantastic examples of business card design with a wow factor.
Remind them of your product
This idea only works for certain businesses but it’s well worth using if you can. If it’s possible to make your business card in a shape that reminds people what you do then you should! If you’re an IT support firm make your card look like a computer. If you’re a furniture manufacturer, like the example above then make it look like a chair.
If your product is small enough then consider including a sample. One of the most memorable business cards we came across in recent years was from a small tea firm. The card came with a sample of their tea. Not only did we remember the card but we were very careful not to lose it on the way back to the office!
Make it right for the occasion
Most people have one generic business card design which they use for all events. Have you ever stopped to consider what information the person receiving the card actually wants? Is your address really necessary or are the just going to Google you? Are they really going to send you a fax or would that space be better filled with your Twitter details?
You could run this as a small experiment – get a quote for a small run of business cards with altered information and see if your response rates go up. If it works then consider what other types of card you could produce.
The best business card design for you and your company depends on the image you’re trying to project. If you’re trying to present your company as different and quirky then a standard business card won’t help create that image. Consider a design like the one above instead. Like the computer above it quickly gives the information people actually want in an interesting and memorable way.
