What are the benefits of digital printing?
What is Digital Printing?
Today’s modern printing methods such as laser and ink-jet printing are now known as digital printing. Digital printing means that an image is sent to the printer via digital files – PDFs for instance – as well as software files such as Illustrator and InDesign. This means there is no need for a printing plate, like those used in litho printing, which can save money and time.
It usually means fast turnaround times too, because there’s no need to produce a set of plates. Instead of having to print large quantities to improve the cost per unit, customers can order much smaller quantities – even just one print. While offset printing still often results in slightly better quality prints, digital printing quality is improving at an amazing rate and often means great quality print and very cost effective prices.
The Benefits of Digital Printing
Over the last few years the print industry has seen a substantial sea change in the shift towards printing digitally. For quite some time, litho printers have been saying you can’t get the same quality with digital printing and whereas on certain jobs this still may be true, there are times now when even the sharpest eyes struggle to tell the difference. At Technique Print’s Banbury Digital Printing headquarters, we’re able to select the right print path for each job, having both operations under one roof. Increasingly we find that for smaller runs, the digital press is the right press for the job.
Digital printing allows quick delivery at an effective cost whilst still delivering on quality.
