Think Big In Business Marketing

 

When you plan your marketing, how do you go about it? What goals do you set for reach, ROI, expected outcomes? Do you think, “Yes, this is good enough” or “This is going to be great?”

Setting big targets.

Instead of looking at your marketing and expecting a certain result from it, set your targets first and build your marketing around that. The bigger the idea, the bigger the plan.It’s all about knowing what you want to achieve and then doing the preparatory work to make sure you get the best results.

Don’t Be Afraid To Experiment

Here’s an example from a musician who decided to try to see what would happen if he gave his music away for free, with an option to pay. In this case, he wasn’t doing it with a concrete goal but the results were surprising. He achieved

  • Greater Visibility
  • Increase in Revenue
  • Increase in Listeners
  • Increase In Mailing List
  • Increase In People Talking About His Music
He had a big idea and went for it and reaped the rewards. It might go against the grain to give something away for free, but he tempered that with a “Pay What You Think It’s Worth” option – and people did. He went into it wanting people to hear his music, so the whole artistic endeavour worked.
